Who can serve as a facilitator?

Any sophomore, junior or graduate female-identified student can apply to be a facilitator!  We encourage any student, regardless of major or organization involvement, to apply!  Seeking facilitators for Edinburg and Brownsville Campuses.

What will I be doing as a facilitator?

Each discussion group will have three trained peer facilitator leading a group of students.  As a facilitator, you will be focusing on a different topic around body image each week while utilizing a script and guided questions.  This, along with much more, will be covered in our training!

What is the time commitment?

In addition to the facilitator trainings (September 14th & 15th), we are planning to host three groups throughout the year, one in Fall 2018 and two in Spring 2019.  At present, each facilitator will lead at least one group - which will be a series of four one-hour weekly meetings.  Facilitators and staff supervisors will decide on these meeting dates and times in September 2018.

What will I gain from this experience?

From valuable facilitation skills, to leadership, to navigating discussion around a critical topic - there is a lot to gain!  Facilitators will also be interacting and learning alongside UTRGV Counseling Center Staff.

Tell me more about this training!

All facilitators must commit to attending the all-day training on Friday, September 14th and Saturday, September 15th, along with a video conference on Friday, September 21st from 12:30 pm to 4:30 pm.  For the September 14th & 15th training dates, we will be visited by an official Body Project trainer where we will be learning more about the program and group facilitation skills, as well as practicing those skills.
